I’m not in DC/VA area and I’m not African-American. But I am a cosmetic dermatologist and I do a lot of Botox and filler injections. Botox is generally best for upper half of the face while fillers are better for lower half of the face. Fillers under the eyes may look lumpy. There are a lot of websites that will recommend a doctor to you but most of them are just paid advertisements for the doctors. It’s good that you’re asking around. That’s the best way to find a qualified and caring doctor. You can also visit Botox Cosmetic website (www.botoxcosmetic.com) and find a doctor near you. The ones that are listed at the top of the page are generally the most experienced ones. Make sure you call them and get prices as the prices can vary greatly. The average price for Botox in Los Angeles area is $13/unit, but I don’t know how much they charge in DC. It takes about 20 units in the frown line area, 20-36 units around and under the eyes, and 12-20 units in the forehead area. For the laugh lines, Restylane is probably the best option. The price of Restylane is about $400-700 per cc. Most people need just 1 cc of Restylane in their laugh lines.

Right, i have this lines on my face, there not wrinkles it is just my face shape , I think its from me mainly having a protruding mouth. Anyhoo there really ugly and annoying . I think a facial filler would possible get rid of them but im not to sure . Any advice ? Here is what i mean

First of all, don’t get sidetracked by the “budget”. If you truly want to have Botox or Restylane(derma filler) be sure these injections are done by a reputable MD, not just a nurse trained in the procedures. On average, expect to spend $500 for derma fillers(per 1cc) and approx. $120 for Botox(per area). Make an appointment with an MD that has free consultations and go from there! Good Luck
what has happened to my skin?
I am a woman of 42 who has suffered alot of stress in my life, due to an abusive partner and a disabled daughter. I use to think that despite all the stress, I got on with things and use to think my skin was very good for my age. I dreaded reaching 40 and have been obsessed with my skin ever since. I now look in the mirror and dont recognise the woman staring back at me. I have got really bad depression about the way I am looking. My skin has gone terrible, open pores seem to be coming fast all over my face. fine lines and crepey sking with pores in my upper and lower cheeks. I have got lines along the jaw line on both sides. Last May i noticed that the corners of my mouth started to turn slightly, so I went and had a filler (Hydrafill) injected down the nose to mouth and around the mouth corners. She over injected me slightly on the right side of my face. She then for whatever reason, put a blob in my lip. The filler has worn off now, but the right side of my face looks worse than ever. The part of my lip has curled right under and looks flat. The droop on the side of my mouth seems to have deepened, and I have this shadowing going from the mouth down to the jaw, which is really getting me down.
I have noticed the skin on my neck feels looser, and the skin on my face has gone quite thin. I feel like ending my life, as I dont know what to do. I feel like I have aged quite alot in a short time and dont know what to do for the best.
My family is suffering because I wont go out incase people see me. One of my daughters is very critical of me, and keeps on laughing at me. She makes me feel ugly.

I can understand what you are saying, I really can, but you dont understand what i have been through. Yes there are alot of people worse than me, I know that, and I know I should try and cope, but it is hard when you have a daughter who just laughs at you and tells you that you are getting worse. I sense that you Mochi may have encountered some hard times, but it is not nice to be harsh. This really effects my day to day life, to the extent when I am sick. If your face was sagging on the one side, and your skin looked awful, you mean to tell me you would just except this. I want to look and feel good, not just for myself, but my daughters too. Wrinkles and Premature aging at 19?
I’m 19 years old and I’m already developing wrinkles on my face. I have pretty deep lines on my forehead. I also have really prominent lines around that go from my nose to my mouth. I have a tough time hiding these with makeup. At this point I look like I’m 30.

Can botox be used for softening nasolabial folds (lines around mouth)?
The lines I have are deep closer to the nose and I don’t like the idea of collagen fillers to “correct” them. I’ve got a very expressive smile and was wondering if I could tone it down without losing the ability to smile. Thanks so much for your time!
Don’t use botox if you want to be at all expressive. Botox is a form of botulism: A NEUROTOXIN! It essentially shuts down your nerves and disables your nerve-muscle connection — therefore “flattening” or “relaxing” the area treated.
Collagen would probably be a better idea if you really want to go the plastic surgery route (and yes, these “treatments” are ALL plastic surgery). Fillers don’t stop your normal muscle function, only “soften” lines. Keep in mind though, that none of these things are 100% — fillers can shift and cause reactions within your skin. Always talk all options through with your dermatologist/plastic surgeon.

..I’m not sure if anyone can help..but I don’t smoke, I never have smoked…I don’t use tanning beds.. I stay out of the sun..I also wear a moisturizer along with SPF 30 everyday, faithfully..I don’t go to bed with my makeup on…I usually sleep on my back…in yet, I noticed laugh lines on my face… What gives ?? Carol had never read before and so far the book was like amazing. She saw so many words that were totally new. The most fascinating aspect of it was the beautiful filler, describing many of super exciting activities like eating, cleaning the house, getting picked up to go the school, ordering from the canteen, small talk with other characters, shimmering in the sun, and all the other cool stuff the main character went through.
Carol sighed, loudly. Her mouth opened and unexpectedly she let out a loud, sudden… Burp! She placed her palms against her face. “Oh no, what have I done”. She muttered, “But will Carol become a vampire and then like forever stay 18 for 100 years and eternatilly”, she wondered about that last. She thought to check the book on that. “I’m talking about you, idiot”, the holy light became enraged. Carol realised now was not the time to check, “Oh my god really”, Carol shouted.
“Goodbye Carol”, holy light roared like a lion that had been fed only liquid foods, sending a thousand rays of light down into her bedroom. The Limelight pages burned, and with them Carol caught on fire. Then silence came and there was nothing. Holy light was happy, as he crossed her off the list.

I’m starting to get nasolabial folds (the deep “parentheses” that extend between the nose and mouth) and marionette lines (deep vertical lines around the chin–sort of like extensions of the nasolabial folds), and the corners of my mouth are starting to droop. I read that the most effective way to treat these is with injectable dermal fillers like collagen and Restylane, but I don’t want to do that yet. What are some good skin care products that help to minimize these lines? And what are the most effective lifting/anti-sagging products? How about in the lower price range?
By “skin care products” I mean anything that is available over-the-counter.
Th best treatment for any lines are fillers, such as botox . I know it seems a bit drastic, so you have to way up how much they bother you.

My marionette lines seem to be getting deeper and I feel very concious about them. I went for a few consultations and they recommended Restylyne and perlayne or juverderm. What do you think. I lost weight rather quickly since Christmas, due to stress and depression which I am going through and getting treatment for. It seems to have taken alot out of me and I have noticed the changes in my skin and also my skin not so firm and I feel I am sagging abit around my mouth. Am I doing the right thing or can anyone suggest another alternative that will firm me up and help me to feel good about myself again!
Restylane will give you the longest result, but it is not going to fix sagging skin. You didn’t mention your age. Sagging skin will usually contract, with time, if you are less than 30 — and especially if you are less than 20. Be very cautious about anywhere that is willing to suggest dermal fillers if you are less than 20 — your skin is still changing. If you lost a very large amount of weight (50+ pounds), then probably only a minor facelift would remove the sagging skin if you are over 25 or so. If you are experiencing malnutrition related to the weight loss or lost too much weight, regaining some weight and correcting your diet will help your skin regain its natural elasticity.
